Description
This partly self-funded program represented an initiative to conserve and protect the Green Turtle population in the small archipelago of Pulau Banyak. For that, as part of a volunteer team and in the position of Program Director, I formulated and prepared an integrated conservation and development project (ICDP) Environmental Program for Pulau Banyak, including identification and initiation of potential alternative socio-economic activities. As an implementation vehicle we initiated and established a local NGO, the Pulau Banyak Foundation (or Yaysan Pulau Banyak), and raised funds with donors (listed above). Other activities included awareness raising with government and local communities.
